Basic objectives of FOLT are the support of standardised exchange formats, non-proprietary software and trialling new translation technologies and methods. We are concerned with the overall workflow of multi-lingual documentation. From generation of the original text to production of texts in the target languages, highlighting any defects or lack of standards in the processes.

Agenda items and results:

1. Questionnaire for the webbased survey about experiences with TM systems is online. The results of this survey are taken into account in the development of TMOSS that will be available for free for universities, companies and public authorities as well as freelance translators.
2. The synopsis for preparation of a specification for the Translation Memory Open Source Systems (TMOSS) version 1.0 is ready to be published.
3. Folt presentation at the Tekom congress in Wiesbaden, Germany on Thursday, October 8th, 3 p.m.
4. The Linux Solutions Group e.V. (LiSoG) which targets the promotion of Open Source-based solutions supports FOLT as a LiSoG Supported Project.

Agenda items and results: 

1. New member of the FOLT working group: University of Germersheim, represented by Sascha Hofmann, whom we warmly welcome. We look forward to working with you.
2. Positive results from the FOLT internal survey of translation memory systems. This resulted in the decision to prepare a web-based survey of the target group 'Users of TM systems'.
3. Decision to convene an internal FOLT workshop for creating a design model for a TM suite, due date: 4. July.
